BIAB infill, removal or a fresh set: what to ask before booking

Describe the product already on your nails and get the right appointment confirmed before choosing a menu item.

Start with what is already on your nails

An infill keeps part of an existing enhancement and addresses growth. Removal takes off the existing product; a fresh application starts a new service. The words on a booking menu do not tell the technician which product, condition or previous application they will encounter.

Send the previous treatment name, approximate appointment date, a clear current photograph and your desired finish. If you do not know the product, say so. A photograph is useful context, not proof of the product system or a substitute for an assessment.

Ask about another technician’s work

Ask explicitly whether the technician accepts infills on another salon’s application, removes that product, or requires removal and a new service. Record the answer for this appointment rather than assuming all builders or all salons use the same policy.

The GelBottle publishes system-specific infill instructions, including a dedicated HEMA-free BIAB process. This illustrates why the exact product matters; it does not establish that every builder gel is BIAB or that any particular technician accepts your existing set.

Compare the complete appointment

Request the price and time for the agreed scope: removal if required, new application or infill, colour, design, repairs and any applicable travel. Ask whether those items are included or charged separately. A cheaper base price can cover a different appointment.

Choose a reference design from the technician’s own work where possible. Ask if your requested length and detail fit the booked slot. Do not treat an inspiration image as a promise of an identical result.

Turn the answers into a useful request

A useful message is: “I have [product or unknown] from [date/previous salon], would like [finish and length], and have attached a current photo and design reference. Do you recommend an infill or removal, do you accept this previous work, and what would the full appointment cost and duration be?”

Use the budget tool to compare confirmed menu charges. It models the amounts you enter, not the correct maintenance interval for your nails. Ask the technician to confirm the treatment and timing before booking.

Put your plan into practice

Explore technicians, look through their work and send your appointment questions.
